Biography
Established over 20 years ago by Junior Trejo, in
the heart of St. Paul, Minnesota’s West Side
area, Westside Band is the proud recipient of City
Pages’ 2004 Best Established Band Award.
Going back to the mid-80’s Westside Band appeared
on Ed McMahon’s Star Serach, touring with the
program from the East to the West Coast. Westside Band
has played with many national artists including Kool
and the Gang, A Flock of Sea Gulls, The Supremes, and
Gladys Knight and The Pips.
The band and band members have won many Minnesota
Music and Minnesota Black Music Awards, in addition
to their 2004 City Pages “Best Established Band” recognition.
In 2002 Westside Band toured the US performing a 12-member
tribute to “Earth, Wind & Fire,” including
a full sound and lighting production.
In addition to performing, Westside Band donates time
and talent raising awareness and funds for charity,
including: Lyons Club of America, Muscular Dystrophy
Association, The AIDS Foundation and Minnesota Amber
Alert.
In between gigs as the “house band” at
Arnellia’s in St. Paul every Friday, Saturday
and Sunday, Westside appears at a number of Midwest
casinos and dance clubs.
