Bio

Red Dirt Road was formed in June of 2013.  It started as a four piece band with the only original member remaining, Cory James, on drums. Red Dirt Road started off playing classic country and Texas country at small town bars and has morphed into a six piece powerhouse, fronted by the husband/wife duo of Cory and Kristen, that is exploding onto the scene. Red Dirt Road is one of Upper Midwest’s premier rocking country band. Playing festivals, county fairs, weddings, and bars. Check us out in a town near you! Come on out and party with Red Dirt Road! We put a little bit of a spin on the standards you know and love and rock up the new top 40 country. Not your typical cover band. You won’t quite know what hit you, but you will know that you liked it.

KRISTEN – LEAD VOCALS/TAMBOURINE/COMEDIAN

Kristen is from Janesville, MN and has been singing her entire life.  From church, to weddings, to karaoke, and now with Red Dirt Road.  She loves to sing Carrie Underwood, Sara Evans, Miranda Lambert, and anything else that will get your booty shaking on the dance floor.  She loves green bandanas, Ford trucks, and Fireball.

CORY – LEAD VOCALS/RHYTHM GUITAR/SAXOPHONE

Cory is a Red Dirt Road original and was instrumental in starting the band back in April of 2013.  He started off as the drummer and has also filled in on bass in a pinch.  He likes to sing everything from the classic country hits of Johnny Cash to the new pop country hits of Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean. Cory has spent time with Edison’s Kids, Johnny Frost and the Heatseekers, and most recently, Georgia Clay. He has shared the stage with Whey Jennings (grandson of waylon), Nick Giese, Doug Finch,  and many others.

BRIAN – GUITAR/VOCALS

Brian comes to the band Via Cowboy Asylum.  Brian has been performing for over 20 years and has shared the stage with Alan Jackson, Neil McCoy, Rick Springfield and many others.  Brian majors in guitar but also brings fiddle, piano, and Vocals to the stage as well as running sound and lighting. Brian started as a 80′s Rock player and has progressed into Country, Pop, and Western swing with many influences and mentors who have shaped his musical talent.

 BRENT – DRUMS

Brent joined Red Dirt Road in July of 2014.  He has played with several groups including Relentless, Northern Lines, Bad Habits, and the Jackwagons.  He has been playing drums most of his life, but made the transition to the drum kit about fifteen years ago. Brent is proficient in many musical genres and styles.  His power resides in his masterfully trained skills as a drummer.  He brings musical versatility, razor-sharp instincts, and a refined, but inspired technique.  Some of his influences hat created his style include Rich Redmond, Chris Fryar, Kevin Murphy, Jim Riley, Aynsley Dunbar, and Ricky Rockett.

THOMAS – BASS/VOCALS/KAZOO

Tom joined Red Dirt Road on a cold winter’s night as we drove to Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN.  He was standing on the side of the road with a sign that read “Bass Player Available”.  We picked him up and the rest is history. He has rock and roll roots and has spent time with bands such as Blackout, Gel, and Georgia Clay.  He likes to play anything with a sweet groove and his favorite thing to do each night is play the bass solo to Brown Eyed Girl.

ANTHONY – GUITAR/VOCALS

Anthony Knight comes to Red Dirt Road from Tampa, Florida.  Growing up, he started listening to Rock and Metal music and at the age of 15, started playing guitar. His early influences include Lenny Kravitz, James Hetfield, Clint Lowery and Billy Howerdell.  After playing in various Rock and Metal acts in Tampa, moving to Minnesota in 2002, and working in the music production community in Mankato, Anthony was bitten by the Country Music bug.  Added to his previous influences come the likes of Keith Urban, Brent Mason and Joe Don Rooney. Now joining Red Dirt Road in 2016, Anthony brings his uncanny energy and stage presence as well as lending his solid rhythms and vocal styling.
